(***As you can see from John L's comment below in the comments section, there is a way to order the book even if you don't live in St. Louis. He bought one through Blurb.com! John, who is real smart because he's a retired professor, simply Googled Craig's name and the book title, and up it popped. He's expecting delivery to his very own house in Texas on May 19. Thanks for the tip, John!)

I have news for those of you who have been following this story: Craig Downs' book Found in San Pancho is real, tangible, beautiful, and published!
Some of you already know that I've been working on it with Craig. We had a wonderful time putting it together, working simultaneously on the online software some days and spending many hours designing, choosing photos, editing, and talking about it all on the phone. It was an interesting exercise in long-distance collaboration and it went as beautifully as the book turned out.
Found in San Pancho features all the delightful paintings he did while he was here over the winter, a whole bunch of his photographs and mine, and a nice long recap story of the Paint by Numbers community project which I wrote and which includes photos of many of you San Pancho residents. There are photos of our art show at Sarah and Sean's, photos of other people he met and adventures we had, and more.
There's already a long list of people in St. Louis who are waiting for their copy, which Craig will sign and sell at his art opening there next Friday at Hoffman LaChance Contemporary gallery, where he will be showing the original paintings for the first time. He's also having a book signing at Jaynelle Haynes' and Mary Vandervort's Dogtown Gallery and Frame Shop on May 16th.
Jaynelle and Craig with the book!
Those of us still in Mexico are out of luck for now. The problem is that it's proving a bit difficult to get any down here at the moment. But we will figure it out and have them here by the time we all reconvene in the fall. Sounds to me like a good excuse for a party.
Buen viaje to all who are traveling back to the States over the next few weeks. Hope to see some of you up there. Have a lovely summer.
Nos vemos pronto...see you soon!
Just ordered a copy now and will receive it on May 19th. Can't wait! So happy, Candice, that you were able to collaborate on this wonderful project.
